Mass transit: The CTA, Metra and Pace are on Sunday/holiday schedules.

Banks: Some are open.

Financial markets: closed.

Postal service: no delivery except for express mail; post offices closed.

Schools: closed. Chicago public schools reopen Jan. 9. Most archdiocesan schools reopen Tuesday.

Libraries: Chicago Public Library branches are closed.

Parking: Parking-meters must be fed.

Driver's license offices: closed.

Garbage: no garbage pickup in Chicago.

Government offices: closed.

Courts: closed, except for some bond calls.
