On March 6th March 6 every year the Ghanaian community in the Chicago Metropolitan Area celebrates Ghana's Anniversary.March 6 1957 was the day Ghana attained freedom from British Colonial rule. On this day the Ghanaian Community in Chicago mostly celebrates with a dinner and dance that brings together about 200 to 400 members of the community and from different parts of the state and the country. The event is organized annually by the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago. Speakers at the function normally include the President of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, a guest speaker who might be Ghana's ambassador to the US, or another speaker if the ambassador is not present.
