The “Mayor” Is 65

Friends and well wishers in Chicago gathered at the posh Grand Ballroom on July 5 2008 to celebrate the 65 th Birthday of “Chicago Mayor”, Mr. Emmanuel Boafo Papafio. As expected, the hall was filled to capacity with community leaders, elders,members and visitors from other States in the USA, Canada and Ghana. Such was the huge show of support for the man Chicagoans call “Chicago Mayor” for his immense involvement and contribution to activities in the Ghanaian community here!

The parking lot to the Grand Ballroom at 63rd and Cottage Grove was over “crowded” , hence many cars of attendees were blocked. Attendees who wanted to leave the party early were kept angrily waiting in the parking lot for hours leading to a prominent Ghanaian doctor angrily voicing out loudly, "this behaviour is puckish”. Ironically, the “Chicago Mayor” has been the leading voice against people who block others when they attend community events!

Chicago’s ace D.J, Ramonski Love , of the popular FM Station, V103 was there to grace the occasion. D.J Love was greeted with a thunderous ovation when he stepped on the floor, walking with the assistance of clutches, to congratulate Mr. Papafio on his 65 birthday celebrations.

D.J Reggie kept revelers dancing all night long with his special selection of old school Music, especially of the 70’s and 80’s. Pyrotechnic dancers amazed the crowd with their state of the art laser and top of the line "pyro-costumes" and dance movements. Other highlights of the celebrations were when the ‘Chicago Mayor” stepped on the dance floor with his beautiful wife, Amaa,to remember their "youth" days.

The President of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, Mr. John Henry Assabill , presented a full piece of cloth and $400.00 cash to Mr. Emmanuel Boafo Papafio on behalf of the Council.

"CHICAGO MAYOR" Once again HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
