If a Golden anniversary is a special day for all humans, then so was it for Mrs. Priscilla Armah, wife of former Accra Hearts Of Oak and Ghana’s Midfield dynamo, Adolph “Generalissimo” Armah , when she celebrated her 50th birthday on Saturday, April 19 2008 at the 83rd and Ellis Community Center!

The celebrations was memorable and a real showcase of an event to remember! The choice of setting of the hall and dress for the occasion was Gold and White! The organizers, friends and family of the Armah's were elegantly dressed in white and tall golden colored headgear"!

Attendance was overwhelming, both the older and younger generation of immigrant Ghanaians, coworkers and friends of the Armah’s were there in massive numbers to support them! Leaders of the various Ghanaian Community Organizations in Chicago and the President of the Ghana National Council, Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Assabill were present. Former Chicago Ace D.J, Sam Q, travelled from New York to celebrate with the Armah’s. The hall was jam-packed with revelers and not even the sweltering heat in the hall could ruffle the resolve of the crowd to enjoy the moment with their beloved mother, friend and a community member!

The celebrant, Priscilla and her shy looking husband, Adolph, danced, took pictures and mingled with all.

There was assortment of gift items for the attendees. There were equally, varieties of Music extremely enjoyed by the crowd. Smart Frimpong led a group of musicians in live Ghanaian highlife and “kolomashie” show, followed by a rollicking solo performance of “ Gamashie” music by Nii Okine !D.J Reggie also dazzled the crowd with Highlife, Old School, and Gospel and other kinds of Music liked by the joyous crowd! The celebrations ended in an electrifying moment when the popular Ga song, Wogbe (wogbe dzeke) was played by D.J Reggie!.

The Numerous announcements at the function of upcoming events in the Community here ,reveal a busy schedule of celebrations in Chicago this year. Saturday, April 26, 2008 will be the next big celebration; when the Kwateng’s of Oakley construction fame, celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother and mother-in –Law at the same venue!
